Renal Unit Upgrade, Morriston Hospital, Swansea

Contract Value: £1.1 Million

Main Contractor: Interserve

Client: Swansea Bay UHB

Building on our extensive work for Swansea Bay University Health Board, F P Hurley were awarded the mechanical works contract working under Interserve Construction. The project was part of the £5.8 million renal unit upgrade which involved the full refurbishment of the Renal Unit to provide state-of-the-art facilities in a modernised and fit-for-purpose layout. The new unit provides 19 dialysis stations, renal outpatients consulting rooms, greater bed space and private cubicles. We worked closely with Swansea Bay University Health Board through the installation process to ensure a thorough understanding of project requirements, allowing us to deliver a facility that has high levels of future flexibility, resilience and sustainability.

Our team worked closely with the supply chain and Interserve to ensure that works were delivered as discreetly as possible, so that it was ‘business as usual’ for the hospital staff. This required close coordination with the Health Board, and an adaptable approach from the Hurley team was fundamental to achieving a successful outcome for all. Noise, dust and vibration was carefully controlled to prevent any negative impact on patients and staff, and the privacy of patients was maintained at all times.
