A Message from our MD

Hi everyone.

It’s starting to heat up, and that’s just the outside temperature! Our current workload and future pipeline are filling up! As a result everyone is extremely busy. This is how businesses thrive and grow. My thanks to you all for your individual contributions to making this happen.

We are being recognised for our professional contributions on site; we are winning projects as part of construction teams at interview; main contractors are requesting that we partner with them exclusively on tender bids. All of these make us a “go to” company in our area of expertise.

It is fantastic to see so many activities taking place outside of work. All concerned are to be commended for this and I hope more of you will be encouraged to get involved.

Going back to the climate, please take care when working outdoors in particular and keep well hydrated. It looks as if this weather is persisting and you need to keep yourself safe and healthy.

High Praise From South Wales Police

South Wales Police recently expressed their gratitude for the high standards at the Police Learning Centre project in Bridgend. The entire team is to be applauded for their professional approach and commitment to achieving exceptional quality. A well deserved thank you goes to Anthony Isaac, Kevin Roberston, Daniel Saunders, Lewis Williams, Paul Newman, Robert Lewis, Owain Lewis, Andrew Watson, Jack Medwin, Kyle Salter, Nico Campbell, Lloyd Green, Simon Jones and Ben Canham.

Apprentice Success

We’re proud to share the excellent client feedback received on third year apprentice, Cameron Thomas. Cameron recently worked on the Spinal Rehabilitation Unit project at Llandough Hospital and received outstanding feedback from main contractor, Willmott Dixon. This is a fantastic achievement that really demonstrates the hard work and effort that Cameron puts into his work. Cameron will be entering his fourth and final year in September and we look forward to supporting him throughout the rest of his apprenticeship and beyond.

Charity Committee Donates to Bridgend Foodbank

The Charity Committee recently donated much needed food and toiletries to Bridgend Foodbank to support members of their local community who have been affected by the COVID-19 crisis, helping to tackle food poverty and those facing financial hardship.

The team reached out to the Foodbank after seeing an urgent appeal for items and worked with them to purchase specific items that were in short supply. Charity Committee members Vicky Midgley and Liam Bradley personally delivered the items, which were worth over £200, to the Foodbank and met with their longest standing volunteer who has supported the Foodbank for over ten years.

The donation was gratefully received by Bridgend Foodbank, who said:

Charity Committee Delivers Modernisation for Tonyrefail RFC

F P Hurley’s charity committee recently joined forces with Tonyrefail RFC to refurbish their facilities and upgrade their aging plant. Tonyrefail RFC is pivotal to the local community, giving them a chance to play regular sport and get the fantastic life experience that come from playing in a team.

The improvements included brand new toilet facilities and a new sink and worktop area within the club bar. The team also stripped out the existing boiler/plantroom and replaced with a new energy efficient boiler and replaced a vented cylinder with a new unvented water heater to create a system that is much more energy efficient.

The club owners are delighted with the modern facilities which will be a massive boost to club members and visitors. To represent our partnership, the club’s new kit will be branded with the Hurley company logo.

Cross Hands Office Upgrade

Refurbishment works are now complete at the Cross Hands office providing improved facilities for the staff and operatives based there. As the business has evolved over the years, the need for better facilities and better use of space had become apparent. The office now benefits from a spacious new breakout area complete with new furniture and kitchen, a dedicated server and printing room, a new storeroom and an additional WC within the stores area for operatives. The refurbishment has helped breathe new life into the work environment and crucially provides an area where employees can relax and eat their lunch together and even hold informal meetings.

Contract Completions

Well done to Adam Robinson who has successfully completed the University of West of England Centre for Fine Print project. Your determination and hard work has paid off and F P Hurley acknowledged and appreciates your efforts.
