F P Hurley win ‘Best Subcontractor’ award.

Willmott Dixon Construction Ltd recently held their Supply Chain Awards 2009, awarding F P Hurley ‘Best Subcontractor’. Phillip Hurley, Managing Director, accepted the award at the ceremony in Chepstow, and commented “this award recognises the continued hard work shown by all our employees, and we are delighted that Willmott Dixon have chosen F P Hurley to receive this award”.

Apprentice of the Year goes to……..

F P Hurley are proud to announce the winner for Intermediate Apprentice of the Year 2009.

Gary Jones has achieved NVQ Level 2 (H&V Commercial and Industrial) and is now proceeding into NVQ Level 3.

Medway Maritime Hospital, Kent

Contract Value: £1.5 million.
F P Hurley was awarded a major contract for the installation of mechanical services by Medway NHS Foundation Trust. Acting as Principal Contractor, F P Hurley are responsible for the installation of mechanical services within a specialist, hospital environment.

F P Hurley joins forces with Glamorgan University

F P Hurley recently became a host company for the Network 75 Training Scheme, which is run in association with the University of Glamorgan, Wales.

Through the scheme, F P Hurley provide a work placement for an undergraduate Mechanical Engineering student for 4 years whilst they work towards their degree.

By combining work and study, the individual will improve their employability and make them ready for the workplace, whilst F P Hurley will potentially gain a graduate employee.

Ynysowen Primary School, Aberfan
Main contractor: Morgan Ashurst

Contract Value: £530,000
F P Hurley was awarded the replacement works for the historic school at Aberfan, which was the scene of such great tragedy in 1966. The building is set to achieve an Excellent BREEAM rating with core energy saving features including ground source heat pumps, solar water heating, rainwater harvesting and naturally ventilated classrooms. The buildings ethos is focused on sustainability and being eco-friendly.

Filton High School, Bristol
Main Constructor: BAM Construction Ltd

Contract Value: £5 million
F P Hurley was awarded a major 18 month contract for a purpose built, state of the art, and energy efficient school, due to commence May 2009. The building is set to achieve an Excellent BREEAM rating, with core features including solar hot water heating, rainwater harvesting, high energy efficiency air handling units and naturally ventilated classrooms.

Llandaff Management School, UWIC, Cardiff
Main Contractor: Willmott Dixon Ltd

Contract Value: £2.1 million
F P Hurley has successfully secured the contract to carry out substantial works at Llandaff Management School, Cardiff, which are due to finish in June 2010. This impressive, energy efficient new build will provide a combination of teaching and administration areas. A mixed mode ventilation system will service the building, and the primary main heat source will be a heat pump. Our engineers are thrilled to be involved in the completion of the building which will achieve an Excellent BREEAM rating.

Infrastructure works at West Wales General Hospital (WWGH), and Prince Phillip Hospital PPH), Carmarthenshire.
Main Contractor: Interserve Project Services Ltd

The Infrastructure Works contract covers projects at both WWGH and PPH to be carried out in 6 phased sequences over the next 2 years. A brief description of the works includes the installation of a new medical air plant and the upgrading of the BOC oxygen plant at PPH; steam main replacement at WWGH; upgrading of the chiller plant at PPH; replacement of air handling plant and upgrading of chiller plant at WWGH; upgrade of the current medical gases system at WWGH and the upgrading of the air handling unit for theatres at PPH.

Commencement of works at Prince Charles Hospital, North Glamorgan NHS Trust
Main Contractor: Willmott Dixon Ltd

F P Hurley has successfully won their largest contract to date at Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil. The mechanical contract value of £8.4 million is an impressive project involving the refurbishment of 12 existing wards and extends over a period of 6 phases until March 2012.

We are very proud of our Health and Safety record with the Health and Safety Executive and have no prosecutions, prohibition notices or improvement notices being issued.

Aaron Keedwell has achieved NVQ Level 2 (H&V Industrial & Commercial) and is now proceeding into NVQ Level 3. He joined the industry looking for a greater challenge than delivering furniture!
